Artistic Portrait Prints with Gelli Plates

Studio 88, 70 Princess Street, Kingston, Ontario

This class covers transferring laser printed images, photos or magazine pages onto a gelli plate using acrylic paint. Participants will learn to apply a thin paint layer, place the image for transfer, and use a pick up layer. Then we will build the image, rolling different colours and using stencils and marks to add texture to our final print.

Spring Artisan Fair

Kingston Seniors Association, 56 Francis Street , Kingston, Ontario

Come on out this Mother's Day weekend, to shop an assortment of handmade, unique items. The Centre is fully accessible, has a full-service restaurant open for breakfast, and a café, for lighter fare. Parking is free. I will be there with many of my oil and acrylic paintings, as well as prints and cards. Fellow artist Leah D'Ettore will be along side me with her wonderful Mother and child, animals of the north paintings: https://leahadartwork.ca/. There will be works from many professional artists/Instructors at this event, so don't miss out.

Mother's Day Mixed Media Cards

I will be teaching a private workshop for those enrolled at the Providence Care Recovery College. We will be creating mixed media art cards for the mother figure in your life. We can paint, make our own stamps for printing, embroider, collage, to create a one-of-a kind keepsake. Please see their website to apply to any of their courses, as you must have an intake meeting to see if the programs fit your needs. This supportive activity is part of the mindfulness for wellness, mental health toolbox.

We will build upon creating abstract landscapes using acrylic on canvas, creating stand-out trees, through use of colour theory. Discussions will include shades, tones, value, and saturation. Modern Fuel Artist-Run Centre is a long-running cultural non-profit organization in Katarokwi/ Kingston facilitating the presentation, interpretation, and production of contemporary visual, time-based and interdisciplinary arts. This event is a fund-raiser for Modern Fuels, and will run from November 22nd to December 20th, 2025, in the Main Gallery, with an Opening Reception on November 22nd from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.

Step into the untamed beauty of the North with Great Canadian Wild, a dynamic group exhibition featuring 14 talented local painters and photographers. This collection celebrates the spirit of Canada’s wilderness—its wildlife, landscapes, and the rich interplay between imagination and reality. From sweeping vistas and rugged terrain to intimate encounters with creatures of the wild, each work invites viewers to reconnect with the awe and mystery of nature. Some pieces capture the raw truth of the land, while others offer dreamlike reimaginings that blur the line between the real and the fantastical.

Together, these works highlight the diversity of perspectives and styles that thrive within our community of artists, reminding us of the profound connection we share with the natural world

RE:MEMBER is Modern Fuel's annual members' show and sale. This exhibition-fundraiser, features works in a variety of mediums for sale at a 50/50 split between the artists and the centre. The members’ show and sale has been part of Modern Fuel since 1983, and remains its largest fundraising event.

This event allows Kingston to see the contemporary art present within its community as well as celebrate the growth and development of our space, members and supporters.
